Spot was hilarious last night as I turned on the heater right before bed. It was so cold that I stood in front of it, blocking it from reaching him where he likes to be on the corner of the bed soaking up heat. He was so clearly perturbed I had to laugh. He was fidgeting and mewing and looking at me like I was a criminal.
butterbobbin: (ginny is insane)
This morning, Molly was stirring a bit for some time but then suddenly pushed herself up, looked at us and grinned and was all giggly-cute and crawling all over us. It was very precious. If only she was so happy all the time.

Also, while we ate breakfast, we saw Spot walk by outside. Except it wasn't Spot, because Spot was in the living room window. Outside "Spot" was a little more stripey and had opposite tail striping to Spot, but when you glance over... well, yeah. Cue mom heart attack.
butterbobbin: (data spot)
Spot has, for a couple weeks, been Jumping on the Fridge and going after... mint leaves in a bag.

Yeah.

A few minutes ago I heard him gallop up the stairs with rustling plastic in tow. I stepped out to look and he's got this tiny sandwich bag in his mouth full of the dried catnip from Grandma's plant last fall.

Apparently it was behind the bag of mint leaves. On the shelf above the fridge.

I wish I could have seen him get it down. The mint leaves had fallen down to the stove when I went down to look. High places for a desperate kitty!
butterbobbin: (sunglasses of doom)
Molly cries and is unhappy and Spot jumps on furniture and claws things while I'm unable to deal with him.

Dan comes downstairs and she's content as all getout and Spot is lying innocently on the floor.

NOBODY WOULD BELIEVE ME if I told them what had transpired before he came downstairs.

*sigh*

I'm really, really tired. It's been a Very Long Day and I think we are all a little on the fractious side, except maybe Dan.

Deja-vu set in as I wrote that last line.
butterbobbin: (data emo)
Two years ago today Dan asked me to marry him. :-)

Had a fairly good night and did actually sleep a bit. I'm so tired and don't really realise it until sleepiness hits me like a tidal wave, literally. I feel as if I'm actually being draped in something warm... and then Molly squeaks or something and wakes me back up. She did much better just being in bed with us all night though, and until about 3 am didn't need much attention. After that though she wanted to be fed, and kept falling asleep in mid-gulp, so the process of getting her fed was a very, very long and drawn-out affair (it was almost six by the time she was finally satisfied and went to sleep). I'm going to try again here shortly with her partially disrobed.

Spot is curled up looking dejected at the foot of the bed. Poor Spot. Molly is adorable in her little bundly suit that Dan put her in yesterday. SOOOOOOO much easier to get her in and out of than a sleeper for the 1,002,036 diaper changes she requires each day. She's wiggled one of her hands partially out of it and I see tiny fingers peeking.

18 degrees out. Brr. But better than the 6 it is in Yakima.

Oh. And this morning I declined when Dan offered to take a picture of this HUGE blood clot I passed. GAAAAAAAG. He was joking... I hope.
butterbobbin: (Spot)
Spot was sure being a pest last night. He's been so good for probably over a week now and apparently decided it was time to freak out. Jumping in and out of the window above our heads and rattling the blinds, climbing on my nightstand, clawing the carpet, mewing, anything he could possibly do to disturb us. Highly annoying, but eventually he got bored with this game, I guess, because he disappeared. Finally around 5.30 this morning he came in and wanted to snuggle. I suspect this had something to do with the fact that his food dish was bare.

First of December already. So much for November baby.

Need to come up with something for breakfast that sounds good. Blah. Fried egg on toast maybe?

Katrina left a little while ago. Had a nice walk at McDowell Creek Park. I charged along like a crazy woman. I had no idea I was capable of charging these days. But I did, and it felt grand until the very end when I had to pee and couldn't think of anything else. Spot went along. He is now conked out on the cot. It was good for him. :-p Been a long time since he has been out on a walk and he did quite well. He even went up to a fairly large dog and sniffed noses before deciding to bush up and arch up.

Very, very sleepy now though. I want to sleep in tomorrow morning.

Also, my iPod's battery seems to be draining in no time at all. This makes me sad.

Sitting on the couch. Just made the bed minus bedspread which is still in the dryer. Sending intense telepathic messages to GooGoo à la Geo. Cohan, but I am not sure he is listening. Clearly he is utterly unimpressed that Bella is beating him in the race to Out.

Spot is mewing outside. He has been out several times today because the weather is so pleasant and unwet and suitable for feline forays in the fresh fall air. Hence I am a bit reluctant to have him come in.

I am totally hearing a Jerry Collona noise.

Also... on Thanksgiving, my mom is bringing cheesecake and I am going to eat it ALL.

Mostly.

Sort of.

Dan asked me if I wanted to go with him to Portland tomorrow. I have nothing really urgent to do here and will likely be bored out of my mind if I stay, so I said yes. I am in luck that my midwife appointment will be all done in time to go.

Then I discovered that we will just Happen to Be close to Powell's Bookstore.

I know where I will be spending a blissful hour and a half.

So, GooGoo, please don't decide to come tomorrow. I still maintain Tuesday would be a good choice on your part. Not the day when I finally get a chance to go to Powell's without a bored husband trailing along behind me wanting me to hurry up and finish looking. OK?

So sleepy. So glad to be back in my own bed tonight.

Today is Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday Veteran's Day.* So many things of vast importance to the history of our country happened on this day, huh?

Anyway, I woke up around 3am to go to the bathroom, had a nice fat juicy contraction on the way in, and then couldn't get back to sleep for waiting to see if there would be more. (Maybe one.) At least Spot was in a cuddly mood and permitted me to sort of hug him in his sleep.

But I was definitely sitting there thinking that this would really not be the best day for GooGoo to decide to make his entrance. Not that Leo US veterans aren't the bee's knees, but because I'd really rather he just wait at LEAST until Dixie is safely back from the airport tomorrow and then my husband doesn't have to go anywhere very far away until Monday. LOL. Like I have any say, really.

Okay, I'm hungry. What to eat?

*Or Armistice Day, which puts me right in the frame of mind to watch "The Roaring Twenties".

I am really grumpy right now because today is sunny for the first time in days, Spot can actually go outside, and I hunted up and down this entire house for his stupid harness and couldn't find the thing. Seriously. It was ridiculous. Dan finally found it in the closet where it's supposed to be, but apparently buried under a bunch of stuff in the back or something. How it got there I do not know. But now it's starting to get cloudy. Of course. Put him out anyway, but I'm sure he won't be out there long enough to have made the hunt and the ensuing pain it caused me worth the effort.

Irritated.

This mini-rant ended up being longer than anticipated. )

I finally have all the baby stuff upstairs. When I get myself calmed down my goal for the day is to finish putting together the fans for my quilt so I can put it all away for the time being, take down the ironing board, and get stuff situated under the crib. Target apparently shipped the Pooh sheets today; still waiting for the bumper pad to go out.

I also have a lot of other untidiness in the office that just needs to be dealt with. I don't understand why this always happens in there, but it's my workspace and my stuff, so I can't put the blame on anyone but me.

Spot is now in.
